The Rev. Dr. Brian Harrington, the founder of Faithful Justice, is passionate about inspiring people to work for a future when everyone can thrive and experience the abundance of life that Jesus promised. He is particularly committed to working for racial justice, helping White Christians reflect on the racism present within us and around us and resolve to work against anything that denies the belovedness of all people.
Brian received a Doctor of Ministry degree with distinction in January 2022 from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and is also a graduate of Duke Divinity School and Wake Forest University. He served as pastor or co-pastor of Baptist churches in North Carolina and Virginia for 13 years.
Brian is married to the Rev. Ashley Gill Harrington, his partner in life and ministry, and together are proud parents of their beloved five year-old daughter Zoë. They are all happy to share life with their canine companion, Gracie. Brian loves sports, regularly attending college football games, occasionally playing golf and attending professional golf tournaments, and coaching under-6 youth soccer.
Faithful Justice is rooted in and inspired by the Christian tradition but celebrates the ways that people of all faiths or no faith are seeking to make our world more just and equitable. Our primary goal is to encourage people of faith, especially White Christians, to strive for racial justice, overcoming our collective delusion that anyone is worth more or less than someone else because of the color of their skin. However, intersectionality teaches us that racism is inextricably intertwined with oppression based on class, gender, sexual orientation, and more, so we will always be mindful that racial justice is impossible without justice more broadly.
We believe that our faith means nothing if it does not inspire us to work for the common good. Our faith must inspire us to co-create with God a future when all people are loved, fully valued, and are shackled by no artificial restraints. We believe in and feel called to work for the abundant life that Jesus promised so long ago for all of God's beloved children.
